ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Classic design techniques with new applications of modern materials
The “MORIS” (Mauritius in Mauritian Creole) Collection of chairs is created through a merging of two Mauritian everyday design icons. The hand crafted Rotin furniture and the colourful Tanth baskets are found in boutiques and bazaars island wide. Thus, the “MORIS” collection is inspired by traditional local flavours to create a contemporary design with an international appeal.
The materials are common (iron and plastic or marine rope), the shapes are simple (linear and geometric), and the colours, designs and patterns are versatile - making the chairs adaptable to different environments.
The distinctive structures are sturdy yet visually airy and light. The handcrafted seats and backrests offer versatility in design - from vibrant and quirky to elegant.
Each seat is modular and can stand alone or be combined with one another to create new seating configurations.
The pieces displayed at Milan Design Week are entirely hand made in Mauritius and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

The Moris Collection is entirely customisable - from the colour of the frames, to the colours and patterns of the seating.
